Why do we need body fat?

  3. Protection: Body fat acts as a cushion and protects the internal organs from injury. It also helps to absorb shock and reduce the risk of injury during physical activities.

  4. Hormone production: Some hormones are produced in fat cells, including leptin, which helps to regulate appetite and energy expenditure, and adiponectin, which plays a role in regulating glucose levels and insulin sensitivity.

  5. Absorption of vitamins: Some vitamins, such as vitamins A, D, E, and K, are fat-soluble, which means they are absorbed and stored in body fat. Having sufficient body fat can help to ensure that these vitamins are available for use by the body.
